Ms. Moon - No, I am one of the 47 million Uninsured Americans. My doctor friend has a remarkably similar illness right now and says that it feels like Viral Meningitis. She's a little kooky, though, so I decided to go to my network of mostly lesbian, non-M.D. holding friends for anecdotal medical advice. What do you think, Sweet Lady?
It isn't uncommon to carry viral meningitis and never have an occurance of illness, however, I have a good friend who carries it and has had it "break out" three times. Should you get a sudden, excrutiating headache w/or w/out stiff neck, go immediately to the ER. But, try not to worry, as it typically isn't debilitating nor fatal. Just an inconvenient pain in the ass, uh, I mean, neck!
Been around any Swine flu patients lately?
You and Dawn hug each other for me for my gratitude for your support of the video project. YOU GUYS ROCK!
Solo - No, no swine flu here. I hope I don't carry this shit. I did have this same thing a few months ago, though. AND I already had Shingles last year and so will probably have those delightful outbreaks for the rest of my life, too. Crap! I need insurance.
omg sweetie..I'm sending mental chicken soup and we all know that chicken soup cures everything from splinters to leprosy, right? You can make payments to the hospital, and probably talk to the finance department about a sliding scale fee for the services.
Girl, you should probably see a doctor. Find some place that does a sliding fee scale. It'll be worth it. Even if only for peace of mind. Sending out some positive thoughts for you!
We have insurance- the kind where if we get a horrible illness or are in some terrible accident, we won't lose our house. Otherwise, we need to stay well. And I'm grateful for that. Sort of. BUT. What are your symptoms? You had this before and you did not die from it, right? Symptoms. We need symptoms.
OK - I spent two days with "Scary Fever" according to Dawn. She said my body was steaming. I slept most of the first day. I also had a HORRIBLE sore throat. My head, neck and back were really sore and stiff. It was hard to get comfortable on the second day. Thankfully I remembered that I had some Lortab left from the Shingles stint. That allowed me to get some rest. My body still hurt, I just didn't care anymore:) It started Friday. Today is Monday and I feel mostly human. No fever, no problem turning my head. Sore throat is MUCH better. It seems I'm on the road to recovery. Solo said I can carry this and have outbreaks every now and again. So far, that's been true. We'll see, I guess. What I'm really scared of is getting too immuno-suppressed and then the Shingles coming back. I DO NOT have time for Shingles.
Sounds like it might have been a case of the flu. Whatever, you've fought the good fight and will live. Eat your fruits and veggies and get your exercise, drink your water and love your woman and children. All will be well.
What? Have you been diagnosed?
